Kim Kardashian hasn’t set a date for another California bar exam attempt. She says she’ll wait until she has enough free time to prepare, but the goal remains on her mind as she juggles business, filming and raising four children.

“I am always thinking about the bar,” Kardashian told PEOPLE while promoting the new season of Ryan Murphy’s legal drama, “All’s Fair.” She plays Allura Grant, a high-powered divorce attorney, in the series.

Her decision to pursue law predates the show. Kardashian had discussed becoming a lawyer before 2020, around the time she began advocating for criminal justice reform. After six years of studying, she fell short on the bar exam last year. Now, she says the next attempt will happen when her schedule gives her room to focus.

Asked when she plans to sit for the exam again, Kardashian told PEOPLE she’ll “take my time and wait until the moment is right, when I have some free time to focus on it.” Her “All’s Fair” co-star Sarah Paulson backed her ambitions: “She’s going to be a great lawyer,” Paulson said. “She will.”

That answer leaves the timing open. Kardashian is balancing a multimillion-dollar business, several projects and family life, and she hasn’t named a target exam date. Her comments point to preparation time as the deciding factor.

Her first attempt came after years of study

Kardashian addressed the result in an Instagram Stories post, acknowledging that she hadn’t passed after six years of work. “Well…I’m not a lawyer yet,” she wrote, while promising to keep studying and try again on her own.

“No shortcuts, no giving up – just more studying and even more determination,” she said. She also thanked people who had encouraged her, describing their kind words as “fuel” that motivated her to continue.

Her approach to studying has included AI tools. Kardashian previously said she used ChatGPT to help prepare, but found that its answers could be wrong. She described the system’s mistakes as a source of frustration, particularly when it then urged her to trust her own instincts.

“It has made me fail tests … all the time,” Kardashian said. She added that she would get angry and yell at the tool when she believed it had given her the wrong answer.

She also joked about the AI’s response to those exchanges, saying it would turn the conversation into a lesson about believing in herself. Kardashian said she regularly screenshotted the chats and shared them with her group chat, amused that the tool seemed to be talking back to her.

Criticism hasn’t changed her plans

Kardashian’s legal ambitions have drawn criticism, but a source quoted in the report said she remains focused on the goal. The source described her as a hard worker with a strong memory, able to manage competing demands and grasp complex ideas. The source also said she is persuasive and clear about her beliefs.

  • Kim Kardashian is being slammed for having a “thing for dead women” after a recent confession.
  • Kim made a revelation about surgery and recalled painful memories of her father’s death.
  • Paris Hilton had 17 chances to appear in Kim Kardashian biography; however, she chose not to.
  • Kim’s failed bar exam is part of the season 2 storyline.

As she considers another exam attempt, Kardashian is also preparing for season two of “All’s Fair.” The cast includes Paulson, Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash and Teyana Taylor.

Paulson praised Kardashian in an interview with Extra, calling her a “wonderful, wonderful person” and “the most generous, sweet, kind, soulful” person to “grow and learn” with.

For now, Kardashian’s next bar exam remains unscheduled. Her stated plan is straightforward: make time to study, then try again.
