Prince Harry Reportedly Seeks Kate Middleton’s Help to Reconcile With Prince William

A report says Harry hopes Kate can help reopen talks with William, but tensions over the Sussexes’ UK visit may complicate any reconciliation.

Prince Harry’s reported hope of repairing his relationship with Prince William may depend on a person who is said to have her own reservations: Kate Middleton. A source quoted by Star Magazine claims Harry is prepared to ask the Princess of Wales to help ease tensions between the brothers. Whether he can reach her, or whether she wants to get involved, remains uncertain.

The account comes amid renewed strain over the Sussexes’ time in Britain. Reports describe the family as cautious about Harry and Meghan Markle’s return and say their public appearance in Nottingham added to the distance. Those claims are attributed to unnamed sources; the couple’s intentions and the Waleses’ private views aren’t independently established in the article.

A proposed appeal to Kate

According to Star, Harry believes Kate might be able to influence William and is considering approaching her as a route toward peace with his brother. The source described his resolve this way: “If anyone can get William to soften, it’s Kate, and Harry has been saying he’s ready to beg her for help.”

That reported plan faces a basic obstacle: Kate may not be willing to act as an intermediary. The same source said she once made efforts to create an opening for reconciliation but has since changed her view of Harry. The report also suggests that contacting her could be difficult.

It’s a striking shift if accurate. A family member who once tried to smooth relations is now described as keeping her distance, leaving Harry’s proposed approach dependent on a personal conversation that may not happen.

Why the UK visit is part of the dispute

Harry and Meghan left Britain in 2020 and settled in Montecito, California, with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Their return to the UK in August reportedly surprised members of the royal family. A source cited by Star claimed they hadn’t given relatives, including King Charles, proper notice about their plans.

“The fact that they didn’t discuss their plans to move back or give anyone warning, not even the king, really upset her [Kate],” the source said, describing the decision as “so disrespectful.” The report offers no direct comment from Kate or the other royals on that claim.

People Magazine previously reported that William and Kate were taking a measured approach to the Sussexes’ move and didn’t see a need to make an outward statement. A source quoted in that coverage described “a deep sense of betrayal” and said reconciliation would take time.

Nottingham added another point of friction

The Sussexes’ joint appearance in Nottingham on October 15 was their first public engagement together since arriving in Britain, according to the report. ITV News described three appearances that resembled a traditional royal walkabout: Harry and Meghan greeted people, shook hands, hugged supporters and took selfies. Meghan was heard telling one woman, “Oh, it’s great to be back.”

Nottingham carries a particular association for the couple: it was reportedly their first public appearance there after announcing their engagement in 2017, when they were working members of the royal family. Their latest visit looked similar to a royal engagement, even though they no longer hold working royal roles.

A Star source said the event “didn’t help things” with William and Kate and claimed Kate now believes she should give Harry a “wide berth.” That portrayal frames the Nottingham visit as more than a public outing: it may have reinforced existing doubts about how the Sussexes approach their relationship with the institution and its members.

Harry’s public case for reconciliation

Harry has spoken openly about wanting to mend family relationships. In a recent interview with GQ, he acknowledged disagreements with William and King Charles and said, “some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out.” He also said “scars stick around forever,” but added that, given what is happening in the world, “the most important thing is to reconcile.”

The comments prompted another round of reported tension. Closer said William and Kate were unhappy with the interview. A spokesperson for the Sussexes said Harry’s remarks were “absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family.” A source quoted in the coverage described William as viewing the comments as a “cheap shot” at him, Kate and the wider family.

The same account said the Waleses were “exasperated.” It also presented Kate as willing to consider that Harry’s remarks were an attempt to ask for a path toward peace while defending himself. These competing interpretations underline the difficulty: Harry’s public wish to reconcile hasn’t resolved how his words and actions are received by relatives.

A difficult route back

Harry’s reported appeal to Kate would place her between two brothers whose relationship remains strained and whose recent public moments have been interpreted in sharply different ways. The source says he intends to keep trying until he can speak with her properly. For now, the practical question is whether that conversation can happen—and whether it would create enough trust for the brothers to begin rebuilding their relationship.
