Selma Blair’s first direct public statement after an October 11 incident aboard a Delta flight centers on an apology, her health and her son. The actress also said lawyers had advised her to remain quiet while the legal matter continues.
Blair posted a video to Instagram on Friday, October 30, addressing allegations tied to the flight to New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport. Those allegations include claims that she punched a flight attendant, bit a crew member, assaulted a nurse and struck a police officer.
Blair apologizes while the case proceeds

“I know I’ve been quiet for a couple of weeks since October 11th,” Blair said in the video, apologizing for the delay in speaking directly to her followers. She explained that her lawyers had asked her not to comment because of an ongoing legal matter.
She said she takes the allegations “very seriously” and added that she had never intended to hurt or frighten anyone. Blair apologized to people she may have disappointed, hurt or alarmed, while thanking those who had sent messages of support.
Blair appeared in court on October 12 and pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault. She was released on bail.
Her representative described a medical emergency

Blair’s representative had addressed the incident in a statement to PEOPLE on October 16. The spokesperson argued that early coverage relied heavily on a police account and an old headline, allowing speculation to be treated as fact while Blair remained silent.

The representative said Blair experienced a “medical emergency” during the flight and did not try to open the aircraft door or intend to harm anyone. The statement also pushed back against questions about her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, which Blair made public in 2018.
According to the spokesperson, Blair lives with daily pain and still has difficult days. They said she also has pseudobulbar affect, a neurological condition associated with her MS that can shape how a medical episode appears to people unfamiliar with her condition. The statement added that Blair travels with a service dog and that authorities took the dog from her.
Blair says health and family come first
In her Instagram video, Blair said she would focus on her health and caring for her son, Arthur Saint Bleick. She shares Arthur with fashion designer Jason Bleick, whom she dated from 2010 to 2012; their son was born in July 2011.
“So right now, I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son, and thinking of you all with gratitude and love,” Blair said. She described her son as her world and said he was doing okay.
Work and advocacy amid health challenges

In the October statement, Blair’s representative said she had worked on seven film and television projects in 2026, alongside plans for skincare, clothing and reading-glasses lines. The spokesperson described those ventures as designed around “beauty and utility for people whose bodies do not always cooperate.”
The statement also cited Blair’s advocacy for disability rights and the MS community, as well as her support for the Jewish community amid rising antisemitism. It pointed to her appearance at the ADL’s State of the Arts event at The Jewish Museum two weeks earlier.
Her representative said Blair had not been arrested before the flight incident and urged the public to consider all available facts before reaching conclusions. Blair’s own statement now leaves the case unresolved while making clear that her immediate priorities are her health and family.
