KPop Demon Hunters has opened a striking lead among Netflix’s animated Original films, while the preschool detective series The Creature Cases tops the service’s animated series rankings. The split points to two different engines of viewing: a breakout film can surge quickly, while children’s shows build large totals through repeat viewing and multiple seasons.
The rankings draw on seven editions of Netflix’s What We Watched engagement reports, which cover viewing from January 2023 through June 2026. Netflix reports hours viewed, runtime and views for titles that reached at least 50,000 hours. Views are calculated by dividing hours watched by a title’s runtime, so the figure helps compare viewing across titles of different lengths. Hours provide useful context: a long film or series can accumulate many hours without reaching the same view count.
The data also has boundaries. These lists include Netflix Originals, including some titles distributed as Originals in most of the world, and exclude licensed films and series. Films must be feature length; short specials are left out because their brief runtimes can inflate view counts. For series, the totals combine every season across the reporting period. Older titles count only viewing since January 2023, not their original launch audiences. Readers can search the source data using the engagement report search tool.

A film chart dominated by one breakout
KPop Demon Hunters, released in 2025, sits far ahead of every other film, with 648.7 million views and 1.081 billion hours watched. That view total is more than two and a half times the runner-up, Leo, despite the newer film appearing in only two full reporting windows. Its soundtrack’s chart run also helped keep audiences returning beyond its initial release.
Leo has 241.1 million views and 430.1 million hours. The 2023 film, starring Adam Sandler as a classroom lizard, leads the rest of the list by a wide margin. Its performance also gives Netflix a notable animated result from its long-running relationship with Sandler’s Happy Madison, which has produced work in both animation and live action.
The next two entries show why release date alone doesn’t explain the rankings. Back to the Outback (2021) has 145.1 million views, all recorded from 2023 onward. It’s a strong example of a family film finding a second life in the service’s catalogue. The Sea Beast (2022) follows with 136.7 million views and 271.1 million hours. Its two-hour runtime leaves it third by hours, ahead of Back to the Outback, even as it ranks fourth by views.

Swapped, a 2026 release, rounds out the top five with 130.8 million views and 222.4 million hours. It has had at most one six-month reporting window, so its position is especially notable. The next report will show whether it can pass the older catalogue titles ahead of it.

The rest of the film table includes several different kinds of draw: established franchises, studio output and library viewing. Sony Pictures Animation has four titles in the top nine: KPop Demon Hunters, The Mitchells vs. The Machines, Wish Dragon and Vivo. Meanwhile, SpongeBob-related films Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie and Plankton: The Movie reached 100.6 million and 84.1 million views, respectively.

Children’s series shape the top of the TV rankings
The Creature Cases leads Netflix’s Original animated series with 222.9 million views and 710.3 million hours. Its total exceeds the combined hours for Big Mouth, Arcane and BoJack Horseman. That scale reflects a viewing pattern that can be easy to underestimate: preschool audiences often return to familiar episodes, and the chart adds viewing across every season.
CoComelon Lane is second among Originals with 191.2 million views. The licensed CoComelon series has 862 million views, making it Netflix’s most watched animated series overall, so the performance of its narrative spin-off is part of a wider franchise result. CoComelon Lane began in November 2023 and has already reached second place among Originals.

Library depth helps explain the next two entries. Five-season series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, which ended in 2022, has 167.8 million views. Its successor, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, adds 84.3 million, taking the two shows together past 250 million views during the reporting period. Sonic Prime, with 142.5 million views, ranks fourth. The three-season series ran from December 2022 to January 2024 and is the highest-ranked video game adaptation in either chart, ahead of Arcane and The Cuphead Show!.

Big Mouth completes the top five, with 126.8 million views and 594.2 million hours. It’s the only adult series in that group and the longest-running scripted Netflix Original, with eight seasons. Its finale aired in May 2025; the viewing totals include a catalogue window in which viewers could revisit the full run.

Arcane illustrates the gap between hours and views. It generated 434.6 million hours, which would place it eighth by that measure, but its 18 episodes and longer runtimes produce a lower view total. The Seven Deadly Sins has the chart’s second-highest hours total, yet ranks 16th by views. Licensed programming would change the picture further: CoComelon, Peppa Pig and Masha and the Bear each exceed 400 million views, while Paw Patrol approaches two billion hours.
What the rankings reveal
Preschool titles dominate the series chart: nine of its top 15 shows target children under six. The top 25 includes only five adult animated series: Big Mouth, BoJack Horseman, Disenchantment, Record of Ragnarok and Arcane. That result makes repeat viewing and episode libraries central to understanding Netflix’s animated audience.
On the film side, Sony Pictures Animation has the clearest concentration of hits, with the chart leader and three more titles in the top 15. Franchise recognition also helps: the two SpongeBob films both reached substantial audiences, even without matching the top few entries. The numbers suggest Netflix’s animated viewing is shaped by a mix of fresh releases, familiar properties and titles that keep earning attention after launch.
The next engagement report, covering July through December 2026, is expected in early 2027. It will show whether Swapped continues its rapid climb and how much more ground KPop Demon Hunters adds to its lead. All figures here come from Netflix’s published What We Watched reports; individual titles can be explored in the engagement report search.
