G Flip and Chrishell Stause have announced their separation after more than four years together. Here’s a look back at their relationship.

G Flip and Chrishell Stause’s Relationship: A Timeline

G Flip and Chrishell Stause say their relationship has ended after more than four years. Their public statements were affectionate but left the reasons for the breakup unanswered. That uncertainty is part of the story: both have asked for privacy, while the relationship itself played out in public through Selling Sunset, music, and social media.

Flip said they weren’t ready to talk, writing, “My head & heart are feeling very heavy right now and I’m not able to talk but I want to thank you all for your support and appreciate you respecting our privacy at this difficult time.” Stause addressed the separation in a video. “We have agreed to treat this public separation with love and respect for each other,” she said. “That’s not hard for me because I am in love with this person, and I don’t have all the information or the reasons.” Both said they will always love each other.

Here’s how the relationship unfolded, from their first meeting to the years they spent sharing parts of it with viewers.

October 2021: An introduction through Tones And I

Singer Tones And I, best known for “Dance Monkey,” introduced Flip and Stause in 2021. Flip later described them as an unlikely-looking match whose personalities turned out to be strikingly similar. “Aesthetically, we just seem like an odd pairing, but when we really got to know each other’s personalities, we are so similar,” Flip told Rolling Stone in 2023, a few months after marrying Stause. “Which people on the outside would be like, ‘What the fuck?’”

May 2022: Stause confirms the relationship

The two reportedly reconnected early in 2022 and began spending time together. Stause confirmed they were dating at the reunion for season five of Selling Sunset. “You don’t get to choose where you meet someone. You don’t get to choose when you meet someone in their life,” she said.

2022: A music video puts their chemistry on display

After reconnecting, Flip reportedly invited Stause to appear in the video for “Get Me Outta Here.” Released in May, after Stause had confirmed their relationship, it quickly drew attention for its steamy scenes: the pair flirt and kiss in a convenience store and a vivid red studio.

Flip later disputed a widely repeated version of how the video came together. “We actually didn’t meet on the set of my music video, which has been written about quite a bit,” they told PAPER. Flip said they met Stause the previous October, then discussed the upcoming song and its visuals. Stause offered ideas and ultimately developed the video’s creative direction, Flip said.

May 2023: Their relationship becomes part of Selling Sunset

At the season five reunion in 2022, Stause introduced Flip to host Tan France and the cast as someone important in her life. She also explained that Flip is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, calling them “an extremely talented musician.”

Flip appeared on season six, then returned for seasons seven, eight, and nine, through Stause’s departure from the show. Season eight also showed the couple discussing their hopes of starting a family. For Flip, appearing on the series carried a purpose beyond documenting their romance: they said visible non-binary representation could help viewers feel seen and start conversations about identity.

“I’m like, ‘Baby, in the end, this is just a small part of your life. When you come back home it’s chill. We can digest and work through it.’ I definitely think I’m a calming presence in her life, for sure,” Flip told Rolling Stone in 2023. They also said that showing their love on television might change someone’s life and offer the kind of representation they lacked as a child.

May 10, 2023: A Vegas Wedding

G Flip and Chrishell Stause’s relationship took a public turn in Las Vegas, where they held a wedding ceremony after dating for just over a year. An Elvis impersonator officiated. Stause marked the occasion with an Instagram highlight reel set to “Be Your Man,” a song Flip had written for her. “Love doesn’t always go as planned… Sometimes it’s immeasurably better,” she wrote.

There was a legal footnote: the ceremony didn’t make them legally married, as TMZ reported at the time and revisited in 2026. But the couple gave the ceremony lasting meaning: they later said they had tattooed parts of their vows on each other. In July 2024, they renewed those vows at a private ceremony in Australia.

Flip described married life to People a few months later as happy and full of small traditions. “We adore each other and we’re having so much fun,” they said, recalling that they marked even the anniversary of their first kiss with a special outing or a short trip. The legal status was complicated; their account of the relationship wasn’t.

October 2026: They Separate

On Oct. 26, Stause announced on Instagram that she and Flip had decided to end their relationship after three years of marriage. Her message was openly emotional, but she asked for the split to be handled “with love and respect for each other.” She said she couldn’t yet explain the breakup, thanked fans for their support, and suggested they could continue supporting the two of them separately. “I’m definitely never doing this again,” she said, adding that she believed she would heal with time.

G Flip Addresses the Breakup

Flip also posted on Oct. 26, saying that after more than four years together, they were no longer a couple. “I will always love her,” they wrote, describing a lasting connection and treasured memories. They said they were too overwhelmed to talk further and asked people to respect their privacy during a difficult period.

The public timeline ends with both of them acknowledging the separation while expressing care for each other. The ceremony’s legal status may have drawn attention, but the more telling detail is how they chose to describe what came next: privately painful, and deserving of respect.
