Chrishell Stause’s announcement about her marriage to G Flip carries a difficult tension: she says the relationship is over, but her love for the musician remains. In an emotional Instagram video, the Selling Sunset alum described their separation as painful, admitted she doesn’t yet have all the answers, and said she wanted fans to hear the news from her directly.

Stause said she and G Flip had agreed to handle the public separation with love and respect. She also called the news a “pretty humbling update” and described herself as feeling “like a little bit of a failure” after the end of her second marriage. Her blunt declaration about the future — “I’m definitely never doing this again” — captured the shock of the moment, though she was speaking from a place of immediate hurt rather than offering a detailed account of what happened.

The announcement was shared on Monday, October 26. Stause said she didn’t want to issue “a cold written statement,” choosing instead to speak to the people who had followed the relationship. “G and I are no longer together, and we have agreed to treat this public separation with love and respect for each other,” she said.

She didn’t offer a specific reason for the split. Nor did she suggest that affection had disappeared. “That’s not hard for me because I am in love with this person,” she said, adding that she would “always love G” and didn’t see that changing. She described their time together as “amazing over four years with G,” a span that extends beyond the three years they had been married.

A personal announcement, and a public response

Fans responded with surprise and concern in the comments on Stause’s post. Some focused on the unexpected news; others addressed her fear that the marriage’s end made her a failure. One commenter wrote, “The update I truly never saw coming.” Another said, “I’m so sorry you deserve the world.” Others wished her “quick healing and peace.”

Several commenters pushed back directly on Stause’s self-judgment. “Every relationship is a journey that you love and live through, and no one is a failure in that situation,” one fan wrote. Another told her, “You’re absolutely not a failure, and you DO deserve to be happy.” The replies offered reassurance, but Stause’s own words made clear that she was still trying to understand the separation.

That uncertainty matters. Her video didn’t frame the breakup as a tidy story with a clear explanation or a lesson already learned. Instead, she described a painful change, expressed gratitude for the relationship and left space for feelings that don’t resolve neatly. The care in her words about G Flip sits alongside her admission that she doesn’t have all the answers.

How their relationship once looked from the outside

The separation lands after Stause had spoken publicly about the strength she found in the relationship. In September 2023, months after the couple’s Las Vegas wedding, she told Extra that they built each other up and that being together “feels like a superpower.” She called G Flip her “best friend, my partner” and said they were someone she could “do or say anything to.”

She also spoke then about plans to start a family. The optimism in those remarks contrasts with the uncertainty of her current announcement, but it doesn’t make the earlier feelings less real. Stause had also pushed back against people judging the relationship based on limited public glimpses. That perspective helps explain why she may have wanted to share the separation in her own words: a public relationship can invite confident interpretations that don’t capture what the people in it know.

Her admiration was visible beyond interviews. During G Flip’s 2023 Australian tour, Stause posted about their performances and the release of the album Drummer. She praised the musician’s talent and described watching their work reach listeners as an emotional experience. In an Instagram Q&A, she called G Flip “the most genuine heart” and “the most caring, loving person,” and used the affectionate phrase “Human Sexy Sunshine.”

Those comments offer a record of how she saw her partner at the time. They don’t explain the marriage’s end, and Stause hasn’t said they should. The clearest account so far remains her own: the relationship mattered, the separation hurts, and she still loves G Flip.

Earlier heartbreak shaped how Stause talked about marriage

Stause has described a previous divorce as a sharp disruption to her assumptions about commitment. Justin Hartley filed for divorce in November 2019, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Stause later said on Selling Sunset that she learned about the filing by text message. She had believed that marriage meant working through problems together, and the sudden news left her blindsided.

In reflecting on that experience, she said, “When I think of marriage, I think of, you know, you work on things with people if they’re not perfect.” She later reconsidered the idea that a relationship must last forever to have been meaningful. Speaking to Women’s Health about her subsequent relationship with Jason Oppenheim, she recalled an “old-school way of thinking that if you didn’t ride off into the sunset, the relationship was a failure.”

Her relationship with Oppenheim, which also ended, changed how she viewed that idea, according to her earlier comments. Now, with the separation from G Flip, Stause has again used the language of failure even as she speaks warmly about the person she is separating from. That gap between how she feels in the moment and what she has previously come to understand is part of the story; it would be premature to turn it into a settled conclusion.

For now, Stause has shared the facts she’s ready to share and kept the reasons for the split private. Her message points to a difficult adjustment ahead, but also to a deliberate effort to treat the relationship with care. The next chapter will likely be shaped less by the headline about a marriage ending than by how both people choose to speak about the years they shared.
